These morning classes will be based in Contact Improvisation. Somatic images and solo patterns will underpin the warm-ups. Investigating and challenging your solo dancing will be your preparation for meeting others in Contact dances. Connecting deeply with others will lead you back to self awareness. Technical challenges and conceptual strategies will be offered to support you in learning something new.
Nodine's dancing began socially and the first technical form to Chanel his enthusiasm was Contact Improvisation. After some modern dance training he performed through the 90's for British Contemporary dance companies.
He started teaching CI at LCDS In 2001 and gradually expanded the Scope of his pedagogy to include composition, performance and voice/movement techniques. Nodine's choreographic practice has followed and sometimes led the development of his teaching. His personal performance practice has always straddled improvisation and choreography.
As a choreographer Nodine has made work for many contexts, including ; major Opera houses, small theatres, art galleries, text based theatre, touring dance companies and warehouse parties.
Rick's choreographic research at TripHazard:
A dance that happens in the middle of a room.
A dance that radiates in and out from a central point.
A dance that breathes.
A dance which may touch or speak directly to the audience, to individuals.
A dance which creates a kind of kaleidoscopic, chaotic, unity between performers.
A dance which pushes and pulls the audience as it expands and contracts.
A dance which blends in and almost disappears. This class is supported by the TripHazard programme of residenciesDUO OFFER: 1 MORNING YOGA (9:15-10:15am) + 1 PRO-DANCE TRAINING (10:30-12pm) for £12
