A detailed and dynamic class drawing on principals from aikido, running, Steve Paxton’s Material for the Spine, flying low and releasing techniques. We’ll explore ways of organising our bodies and directing our attention to dance both softly and sharply with ease, sensitivity and power. Through duet improvisation, movement studies and longer phrases we’ll dig into techniques of moving and the craft of dancing.
Ben graduated from TrinityLaban before going on to complete the training cycle at P.A.R.T.S. (BE), where he had his first opportunity to study with David Zambrano, the initiator of Flying Low. Now he regularly works as a performer and researcher for, among others; Charlotte Spencer Projects, Joon Dance, Francesco Scavetta/Wee and Vera Tussing. Alongside performing he teaches at conservatoires, universities and professional classes throughout Europe. He also practices Aikido at Tetsushinkan/MovingEast and enjoys barefoot running and wandering amongst mountains with a small tent and a big smile.
