Front and back of the heart support for dancing The three-dimensionality of the organs is a great support for letting the dance soften in tone while keeping the form. In this class we will look at how engaging in 3D with the ribcage and the area of the heart can support technical lightness and clarity, and maybe also let an emotional connection open up. We will work mainly in trios, solos and varying constellations to try and avoid the pitfall of “The One” in the dance and explore some unknowns of this connection. Anne-Gaëlle Thiriot is an independent dance artist interested in improvisation, composition, community and architecture, and hungry for bodies. She met Contact Improvisation first in France through Didier Silhol, Kirstie Simson and Mark Tompkins in 2003. Got hooked by it and went on to work with pioneers of the form, most recently with Nancy Stark Smith.

Dancing, performing and creating within the contemporary dance scene in UK and Europe, She is also an associate artist with Candoco Dance Company and have 10 years of regular teaching experience. Since 2011, she co-runs the CI @ Goldsmiths Student Society (SE London); regular classes, workshops and ‘Southern Jams’ happen there, open to everyone.
