TripSpace is very excited to announce details of a free day time bank holiday outdoor terrace session plus evening afters in the arches.
A free outdoor Carnival terrace special with Culture Trip residents Neil Thornton & Russell Penn (Musica Noche) and special guest Phil Mison (Cantoma, Reverso 68 ) playing a carnival infused selection of balearic, afro-funk, Latin, afro-funk, souvenirs of travels from around the world with any borders.
Music wise there will be a plethora of great acts and residents on board and we are delighted that Phil Mison (Cantoma/ Reverso 68, Balearicos) will be playing a very special afternoon terrace session and in our book it does not get much better than that. (Phil is going to start his monthly residency with us in September btw). There will be live percussion via audience participation as various musical instruments will be given away throughout the afternoon though no steel drums, sadly. Expect carnival infused drinks and food to celebrate the carnival weekend.Phil Mison
Influenced by listening to legendary chill out DJ Jose Padilla, Phil started his DJ career at London’s Milk Bar in 1991, playing chilled Balearic warm up sets.
A chance meeting there with Jose would lead to a two year residency at Ibiza’s Cafe Del Mar, sound tracking a thousand sunsets with his vast collection of sun kissed records.
It was his sets there that led him to play at Full Circle, Bugged Out and to become Leftfield’s tour DJ.
His huge knowledge of the chill-out genre earned Mison a chance to put out his first compilation “Original Chill Out” in 1995.
Since then he has gone onto release a further 15 compilations, including 5 volumes of the hugely popular “Real ibiza” series, “Soundcolors” Phil continues his busy schedule producing and djing all over the globe. He curated “Balearicos” the last two summers, an open air events in London’s Shoreditch.
Guests included Pete Herbert, Ray Mang, Justin Robertson, Jamie Tiller (music for memory), Velvet Season’s Gerry Rooney, Paul Mudd, Moonboots, Faze Action, Max Essa and balearic legends Nancy Noise and Leo Mas.Enjoy Phil's selection of 5 tunes dedicated to the Culture Trip carnival
