Celebrate the coming New Moon with an evening of chocolate-fuelled dancing and heart-centred sharing.
This is an opportunity to move and to find stillness, to share and to listen, to witness and be witnessed, to connect with others and with ourselves and dance the road less travelled from the head to the heart.
We will be drinking ceremonial-grade cacao from Guatemala, setting our intentions for the lunar cycle ahead, dancing our prayers and using this powerful plant as our guide as we harness the lunar energies and explore our own inner landscapes through the wisdom of the body and of the five elements.
No dance or ceremonial experience necessary. There are no steps to follow, no choreography to learn, no way to do it wrong. It's a chance to celebrate life and yourself, finding a way into what's now and what's real for you.
What to expect:
The ceremony will begin with a short movement warm up to help us land in the space, connect to our bodies and shake off the tensions of the week. We will then sit in circle together to drink the cacao, sharing our intentions for the lunar cycle ahead. This process can take up to 45 minutes depending on our group size. Following this, we will transition into movement, dancing through the 5 elements - Earth, Water, Fire, Air, Ether - to music.
This is an opportunity to bring ourselves more deeply into present moment, weaving stronger connections between body, breath, heart and mind. We will dance for approximately one hour before gradually slowing into a savasana (supine) meditation, allowing our bodies to process all that we've experienced.
What is cacao:
Cacao is a wonderful plant that has been used in ritual and revered in ancient South American civilisations for thousands of years for its medicinal and aphrodisiacal properties. The cacao fruit tree, produces cacao pods which are cracked open to release cacao beans that can be blended into a paste (what our brew will contain). It is the purest form of chocolate you can consume. The cacao bean contains over 300 active chemical compounds: it is a powerful antioxidant, a great source of iron and magnesium which gives it a gentle stimulating effect and is a natural anti-depressant containing neurotransmitters that promote the release of anandamide (the bliss molecule), serotonin and endorphins in the brain - all of which are also linked to feelings of being in love. This plant enables us to connect more deeply to our heart space, taking us deeper into the dance and into ourselves.
