MUDRA OF THE MONTH: Bhairavi and Bhairava Hasta Mudra

Dec. 1, 2015, 12:07 p.m. by Giuliana
Bhairavi is a name for Shiva and means 'terrifying' or 'fierce'.
Fiercely warding away suffering.
It is a calming Mudra which brings peace and balance as it invites us to embrace our duality.
The two variations of this mudra are representative of Shiva/Shakti, the Male and Female forms of energy.
When the right hand is placed on top it is the Shiva aspect, Bhairava. When the left is on top it is Bhairavi, the Shakti aspect.
Placing the hands together harmonises the right and left sides of our body and the two energies Male and Female, ida and pingala.

Have a go and see if you can feel a harmony in the body!
