SEASONAL FLOW

Three 2 hour seasonal encounters to integrate practices that support and align us with the flow of nature. Each encounter explores yogic practices beyond asana, such as exploring Yoga philosophy, breath work, chanting and meditation. Open to all levels except complete beginners.

30th SEPTEMBER | LATE SUMMER | GROUND & BALANCE

A grounding practice focused on rebalancing our energy after the busy summer months. Through breath work and a grounding hips and feet focused practice we will investigate the downward movement of energy through the body (apana vayu) and how this can help us to move stress and tension down and out of the body. We will practice slow flowing, embodied asana to improve a healthy mind - body dialogue that leads to deeper understanding of our self and our needs.

21st OCTOBER AUTUMN | SAN KALPA: INTENTION

One of the most powerful practices on offer through Yoga is that of San Kalpa or intention setting. This time of year is a wonderful time to plant seeds of intention that can grow roots over winter to slowly bloom in spring.
In order for our San Kalpa to arise we need to get clear, connect to our heart and know what we are turning our attention towards. Our practice will focus on balancing poses to harness our ability to pay attention and progress into heart openers. We will explore the upward flow of energy through the body (prana vayu) and how it can help us to experience a sense of fullness on and off the mat.

2nd DECEMBER: WINTER | SLOW BURNER

We live in a city that loves fast. Most of us are almost constantly living in our sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight response). Through an investigation of kriyas (yogic practices), pranayama (breath work), and the equalising force in the body (samana vayu) we will explore practices that will move us away from burn out and toward being a slow burner so that we can rediscover our parasympathetic system (where we know how to rest/ stop/ digest/ heal) With an asana practice focused on forward folding we will facilitate the natural process of turning in for the darker months that nature is calling for.
