Jiriki is a movement therapy, which is a form of Japanese self-healing practice. It is a restorative, relaxing and healing practice, which also helps to realign our bodies.
The movement is combined with various elements of shiatsu massage, chiropractic treatment, yoga and meditation.
Jiriki is the Japanese Buddhist term for self-power, the ability to achieve liberation or enlightenment through one’s own efforts.
Jiriki’s aspiration is to teach students how to cure most chronic disorders with their own ability, and to even prevent pain from appearing by applying Jiriki method.
The main objective of Marie's Jiriki classes is to guide students to reconnect to their bodies and to scan it to discover potential discomforts, imbalances, misalignments and tensions.
By raising awareness on the powerful connection that ties together body and mind, students are invited to tap into the body’s innate ability to heal independently.
In this workshop, Marie will share some techniques to increase mobility, and body awareness and self-treatment through Jiriki movements to improve your daily yoga practice. After learning this method, Vittoria will guide students through a short and invigorating yoga sequence to allow you to explore the improvements in range of motion and the benefits acquired following the practice of Jiriki.
WHO IS THIS FOR: This workshop is open to EVERY body, whether you have no previous yoga experience and you simply want to learn how to move safely and comfortably in your body, or you’re looking to expand your regular practice.
YOU’LL LEAVE WITH: You will learn some take-at-home techniques that will enable you to truly listen to your body while moving, how to scan it with the breath to find imbalances and tensions and how to move in ways that help reinstate the free-flow of energy to improve the body's natural power of healing.
Despite being born in a yoga Ashram in Japan from yoga teacher parents, Marié Yagami started her career as a Performance Costume Designer. During her early 20s she was entangled in the fast-paced city life, working as a designer and director of Performing Arts in New York City and London.
To cope with it all she reconnected with my childhood upbringing and started practicing regularly Yoga and Jiriki.
Excited about the benefits that both disciplines were bringing her, Marie started to share them with friends and colleagues, and soon she realised that her life mission was to continue her father’s work and to share the practice of Jiriki worldwide.
After completing a RYS 250hr Vinyasa Flow Yoga Teacher Training at Stretch London, she deepened her knowledge of philosophy, anatomy, pranayama and meditation and has since applied these components into her Jiriki teaching.
Today, Marie continues to develop the Jiriki method alongside her father, and has become an ambassador for Jiriki outside Japan.
