Afternoon Laboratory 14:00-16:00

Morning - Gaga/dancers classes

Gaga is a movement language which Ohad Naharin developed over the course of many years and which is applied in daily practice and exercises by the Batsheva Dance Company members.  The language of Gaga originated from the belief in the healing, dynamic, ever- changing power of movement.

Gaga is a new way of gaining knowledge and self-awareness through your body. It provides a framework for discovering and strengthening your body and adding flexibility, stamina, and agility while lightening the senses and imagination.

Gaga raises awareness of physical weaknesses, awakens numb areas, exposes physical fixations, and offers ways for their elimination.

The work improves instinctive movement and connects conscious and unconscious movement, and it allows for an experience of freedom and pleasure in a simple way, in a pleasant space, in comfortable clothes, accompanied by music, each person with himself and others.

Gaga has two tracks: Gaga/people and Gaga/dancers.
Gaga/dancers is open to professional dancers and dance students.

Afternoon Laboratory

In the laboratory Andrea will offer tools of improvisation that will stem directly from the Gaga research started in the class.

The tasks will have initially to do with the quality of the movement in relationship to the body of the dancer him/herself (speed, texture, form, effort and so on). They will slowly develop into an expanded awareness to the dynamics of the group and the energy created by the dancers in the room.

Our dancing will be in relation to the distance of things, to the needs of the rhythm and musicality in the studio, to the groove suggested by the music, without becoming slaves of it, in order to keep the individual uniqueness of every participant and to give it space.

Choreographed movement material coming from Andrea’s award-winning solos “What Happened in Torino” and “Trop” will be introduced in order to develop a common palette of movement language
