Inverted poses such as Shirshasana (headstand) help to bring the many systems of the body into equilibrium; balancing not only the physical, but also the energetic, emotional and mental bodies, as well as promoting spiritual development. When we turn the body upside down, we are also literally turning our world upside down; this offers us the experience of a new angle of perception. Moving from the fear of unknown territory towards inviting stability from a new perspective.
This 2 hour workshop will focus on preparing the body through opening the shoulders, strengthening the arms, shoulder girdle and core centre. We will look in detail at creating a solid foundation and the stages that build up to the full pose.
Suitable for all levels except for complete beginners.
Harriet came to yoga through a background in classical and contemporary dance. She is an Advanced certified Jivamukti yoga teacher, studying with inspiring teachers Sharon Gannon, David Life, Yogeswari and Patrick Broome. Harriet's classes will take you through a dynamic physical practice, aided by thoughtful hands-on assists and with an alignment focus influenced by her knowledge of the body and movement. Classes are always grounded in the five tenets of Jivamukti yoga, set to a wide ranging sound track and creative challenging sequences.
