NEXT Thai Yoga Massage Chakra Journey ENCOUNTERS:

Sunday 16th Feb: Thai Yoga Massage Chakra Journey #2
Sunday 15th March: Thai Yoga Massage Chakra Journey #3 Visuddha, Ajna & Sahasrara

The meaning of Chakra is wheel. The Chakras are spinning wheels of energy located at vital centres along the spine. They pick up vibrations and distribute them throughout our body through the Nadis (Sen in Thai Massage, Meridians in Chinese medicine…)

Each chakra is associated with particular functions within the body and with specific life issues and the way we handle them, both inside ourselves and in our interactions with the world. As centers of force, chakras can be thought of as sites where we receive, absorb, and distribute life energies. Through external situations and internal habits, such as long-held physical tension and limiting self-concepts, a chakra can become either deficient or excessive—and therefore imbalanced. (Barbara Kaplan Herring)

In this new Series of 3 Thai Massage encounters we will use this wonderful dynamic & ancient form of bodywork to rebalance the Chakra system. Through stretches and applied pressure we will learn ways of freeing the energy so it can better flow through our bodies.

Just like the practice of Yoga can deeply affect the energy and its directions, with Thai Yoga massage we can focus our attention to the postures and stretches that benefit a particular are of the body directly related to a Chakra and its pathways.

Muladhara & Swadistana:

Muladhara:Seat of the Earth element. Red colour. Located deep in the pelvis. Associated with survival, stability, nourishment, grounding, elimination.
Svadisthana: Seat of the Water element. Orange colour. Located above Mula and below the navel, level of the hips. Associated with emotional stability, reproduction, health, freedom, movement or stagnation & creativity and pleasure.
Focus on feet and leg stretches stimulates the first chakra by opening and strenghtnening the lower body, to root the attention downwards.
By opening the hips and groins, we provide freedom of movement in the pelvis, freeing any stagnant energy around this area.

Danila developed an interest in bodywork in the late 90s when she started practicing Yoga and fell in love with Traditional Thai Massage. After studying in Thailand, she obtained an ITEC Diploma in Anatomy Physiology and Massage and to this day continues to evolve her practice by attending post graduate courses, workshops and getting as many massages as she can to keep her inspiration alive.
Her approach to massage is very holistic and fuses traditional bodywork techniques based on Energy Lines with Western skills and anatomical knowledge. Both systems are essential in achieving unity and optimal health for our bodies and minds; when functioning together, they create a better communication and a healthy range of mobility and structure throughout the body.
Danila is a member of the CThA and holds a Teaching Certificate from the International Thai Massage school (ITM) in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
